Church Based Theological Education
A
consortium of churches in the PJ area have banded together in partnership with
the Malaysian Baptist Theological Seminary and the Malaysian Bible Seminary to
conduct theological education on church premises
The
courses will consist of face to face lecture modules as well as distance
learning courses .
Lecture
modules
In
the lecture modules the classes will be held in either of the following format
1.
Once
a week lectures for two hours from 7.45pm –10pm
2.
Weekend
intensive courses once a month for 3-4 months
The
lecturers for these courses will come from the participating bible colleges to
ensure that the course work is recognized for credit towards a Masters of
Christian Studies
Distance
learning modules
The
distance learning modules will comprise of a series of Cdroms or tapes which
the student can take home to listen in the privacy of his own enviroment. A
mentor or proctor will be assigned to the student and will meet up with him at
least twice during the course.
The
distance learning modules come from the Institute of Theological Studies in
Grand Rapids Michigan. The courses are designed by the very best scholars in
their respective fields of research and in the US they are recognized by over
100 theological seminaries. Normally the course are very expensive but the MBTS
has been able to provide it to our program for a very nominal sum.
In
either method of study the courses can be taken for credit which means homework
and assignments will have to be taken as well as an exam at the end of the
course. Students for credit will be charged at a higher rate as we have to
reimburse the lecturers for their time.
Alternatively
the courses can be taken for audit which means it is taken for just personal
edification and there is no need for any other work to be handed in. These will
be charged at a lesser amount.
